Georgetown University

Most of Georgetown's teams participate in the Big East Conference, with the exception of the football team, which competes at the FCS Division I level in the Patriot League. This phrase gained popularity in the late nineteenth century and eventually evolved into their official nickname, the Hoyas. Despite the nickname, Georgetown’s official mascot is Jack the Bulldog.
