Northern Kentucky University is located in Highland Heights, KY. NKU joined the NCAA as a Division I school after leaving the Atlantic Sun Conference back in 2015, they currently compete in the Horizon League. The University’s athletic teams carry the nickname “Norse.” Norse was a common term for Norsemen in the medieval period in connection to the Norse Vikings, making it the perfect nickname since NKU’s mascot is Victor E. Viking. The Norse baseball team won five Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships when the University was still a part of the GLVC before ending its membership in 2012.
